From Argentina With Love on Pocket Cultures!

I recently posted on  Alfajores Mendocinos as part of a group post on regional Alfajores, and it was there that I had the pleasure of becoming acquainted with a group of international bloggers with an Argentina connection--among them, Ana Astri O'Reilly, who blogs at Ana Travels.  Ana, who is Argentinean, married to a Brit and resides in Dallas, TX, is also a contributor at Pocket Cultures, a site dedicated to increasing cross-cultural awareness by featuring blogs, websites, and news spanning the globe.

Departure Time Radio Show!

 

 

We have a lovely local AM radio station here in Denver that I listen to all the time called Studio 1430.  Their music hearkens back to the era of my grandparents--all their standards are, well, the standards.  It's great background music while I'm in the kitchen--the perfect tunes to croon to as I'm concocting something new.

On Saturdays, the station does a show called Departure Time, where featured guests talk about their travel experiences, tips, and recomendations--and on April 23rd, at 1pm Mountain time, I'll be a guest on the show!  Previous guests have included travel gurus Rick Steves and Rudy Maxa.

Please join me while I talk about Argentina with host Rick Crandall. I'll be dishing up my favorite things about the Southern cone, from wineries to recipes to must-see stops on your own vacation!

OK...so, I've been a bit absent lately.

Still, I encourage you to pick up the November/December issue of DRAFT magazine--where you'll find an article written by Yours Truly about Mendoza's (or perhaps the world's) best microbrewery, which, like all wonderful, magical places, remains relatively unknown and beautifully uncommercialized. 

Q & A With Francis Mallmann

Last week, I had the pleasure of meeting Francis Mallmann, and Vanina Chimeno, chef de cuisine at Mendoza's 1884 restaurant.  Over lunch, we talked about Mallmann's around-the globe travels, his love of art and poetry (he's a fan of Auden's works), the economy, freedom as defined by the American hippie movement, being a parent (he's the father of 5), and of course, food.
